A place for me to share my thoughts about the books I read.
Snow in Summer by Jane Yolen was a unique but fun read. It took a bit to get used to the unique writing style but once I did I really began enjoying the story. It is depressing for most of the book but in true fairy tale style you get a happily ever after. The plot was a seamless blend of modern time settings with magical happenings. I would forget the setting is in modern times several times until mention of something modern would remind me. The characters were very interesting. I didn't personally connect to any of them but I did care for some of them like Summer and Cousin Nancy. The book does switch points of view fairly regularly but having the chapter titles helped keep things straight so I never got confused after the first instance. Overall I would recommend this book, specifically to fairy tale lovers like me.
