Bookish Thoughts

This book was good start to a series. Fallen angels are not my favorite subject but make for interesting reading. The plot of Hush, Hush was what stood out to me most. It had a bit of mystery but the thriller aspect kept things interesting. The characters were a bit lack luster but I could see them beginning to flesh out by the end of the book. I am sure the next books will have greater character development. Overall this was a fun read and a solid start to a great series. I recommened this book to angel lovers and those who do not mind a bit of insta-love.

Really this book was a 3.5 star for me. I loved how Sophie Jordan brings you right back in to the world. Vanish is a major turning point not just for Jacinda but for all the characters. It really shows how ones decisions can effect an entire group. The plot itself was a little slow as Jacinda gets reaquianted with pride life however it was not boring. I got a little annoyed with the constant wishing for Will but I saw how it was neccessary and most of my annoyance probably came from the fact I am a Cassian fangirl(not ashamed to admit I am biased). As far as sequels go it wasn't the best but it was far from mediocre. It made for an easy transition into Hidden. I easily recommened picking up Vanish and continuing this series as it keeps getting more interesting by the minute

Hidden was a good ending to a very interesting series. The book started out fast paced and remained so most of the time. You really see what areas Jacinda has grown and how she hasn't changed in others. A new character was introduced and I found myself liking him in what little time was given to get to know him. Things are revealed and events take place that were unexpected but really added to the story. The actual ending wasn't the best I had ever read but gave a nice finality to the series. I recommened this series to those who are interested in dragons or those looking for a quick but unique read.

I love the idea and overall really enjoyed the book. Some aspects of the plot were obvious and others I never saw coming. This book will mess with your mind and mostly in a good way but at some points I had to go back and reread sections because it went beyond messing with your mind to straight confusing. I loved Ava and how everything is through her perspective. As far as other characters go I didn't really like any of them but it seems to be that way on purpose. I would recommened this book to those who enjoy thrillers.

Seraphina was very different than what I had imagined but I enjoyed it none the less. It was very similar to the Legacy in writing style and world building. It took a fantasy world and portrayed such realism that you could imagine dragons walking the streets as people. The plot istelf was vastly different however. I could see how some would find this tale boring as a lot of instances had no specific plot purpose other than world building but personally I didn't mind it. The plot held a lot of surprises and I enjoyed the direction it went immensely. The characters themselves really surprised me. I only felt really attached to Seraphina and Orma however all the characters were entertaining. I enjoyed that the love was slow in coming and actually looked at and handled by the characters in a sensible light. I can not wait to dive back in to Seraphina's world in the sequel! I recommened this book to fantasy lovers. 

I haven't laughed all the way through a book like that in a long time. Of Poseidon was a fun an entertaining read where witty humor and adorable awkwardness abound. I really enjoyed the characters as their personalities where a refreshing change of pace. Galen really surprised me. I wrongly assumed he would follow the trend that tends to happen in YA of being a brooding bad boy type but he was so awkward it was amusing and sweet. Emma was a great change of pace as well. She was feisty but still could be brought to see reason and when things didn't go her way she didn't get depressed she set out to either change it or move on. The "minor" characters aren't really minor and I enjoyed that they played as much a role in the plot as Emma and Galen did. There was some insta-love type behavior but Anna Banks actually provided a believable reason for it and the fact that it didn't happen to just them helped me move past it. As you probably can tell I really enjoyed this book so it gets an easy recommend from me!

I adore books about assassins, especially when they are female and the world definitely needs more of them. Throne of Glass had me from the synopsis and never let go. The plot was exciting and mysterious, the world itself beautiful and horrifying but the characters really made me invested in the story. Celaena is an amazing character that has strength but doesn’t let it get in the way of feeling. I feel a lot of authors make their heroines so strong that they don’t really feel relatable. Sarah Maas was able to make Celaena a careful balance of strong survivor and an emotional eighteen year old girl. Romance had a bigger part in the book than I was suspecting but it wasn’t in a bad way. I really liked both Prince Dorian and Chaol so the love triangle aspect didn’t bother me as much as usual (though I must say as adorable as Dorian can be I am team Chaol all the way). Throne of Glass was an amazing start to a series I already suspect will blow us away. I easily recommend this book.

A great conclusion to an exciting series! Things really took off and never slowed down. The plot had many things unexpected happen and though I was able to guess some big things before they were revealed it didn't put a damper on my enjoyment. The ending was particularly good in that it tied things up yet left enough open for you to imagine what could happen after. I definitely recommend this series!

Until I Die was a great addition to the series! I loved it just as much as the first though it got a bit slow in the middle. Learning more about what was going on, getting insight into the lives of previous characters and meeting new ones made this book really interesting where other series tend to lag. The ending was killer so I recommended having If I Should Die on hand before finishing it. I recommend this series!

The Night Circus was an enchanting read. The plot was very mysterious but the characters were what drew me in. I adored all of them for different reasons and finding out what happens to them was so bittersweet. I enjoyed the world and the descriptions of the circus itself. Erin Morgenstern's writing really made it come to life. I would recommend this book.

Wings of the Wicked was a great sequel to Angelfire! At first I was a little hesitant as it has been so long since I read Angelfire but to my surprise I fell back into the world easily. The plot was a little slow at times but I was enjoying the characters so much I didn't mind. Wings of the Wicked was on the more depressing side but had enough humor to where it wasn't overwhelming. The ending killed me though and will definitely be reading Shadows in the Silence! I easily recommend this series.

Everbound was an amazing addition to the Everneath trilogy. Nikki once again showed how it was ok to have emotions but to not sit around doing nothing about it. Whereas in Everneath I loved the characters while liking the plot, in Everbound the plot really shined. I adored learning so much more about the Everneath (copious amounts of Cole didn't hurt either :>). Most of the book was great and the plot exciting but the end blew me away and really pushed this book from 4 stars to a 5 for me. Evertrue has a lot to live up to and I am so excited to read it. I definitely recommend this series.

Between Shades of Gray was an incredibly powerful book. It focuses on the horrors that took place in Lithuania under Stalin. Though the book was deep and emotional I flew through it not wanting to put it down. The horrors and hope portrayed through this book were amazing. Ruta Sepetys has written a story that should be read for generations to come.

A Curse Dark as Gold was a very good fairytale retelling. I enjoyed the characters and the plot itself was very mysterious and intriguing. I felt it was a little too long being filled with some information that wasn't necessary but it did help set the tone and make me understand the severity of the problems. Charlotte is probably one of my favorite protagnists of all time. Her refusal to give up when adversity came as well as her desire to take care of not only her sister but the towns people as well made me care for her a great deal more than I would have. Overall I recommend this book to fairytale lovers.

The Caged Graves was wonderful mystery. It starts out very slow but I was intrigued enough by the mystery that I stuck with it and the ending made it worth it. I enjoyed the characters and the love triangle was actually somewhat realistic. The plot is what kept me reading especially once I read that the caged graves and the women buried in them were real. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys historical fiction and a good mystery.

Give up the Ghost was an unexpectedly emotional read. I loved the concept and while the book itself was a fast read the issues dealt with were very deep and meaningful. Give up the Ghost may look like a cute, funny read on the outside, and in some ways it is because I certainly had my share of laughs, but it also teaches lessons as you read. I recommend this book to everyone; it is a book that you don't have to be a paranormal lover to like it.
